FAQ

What is a blog?

Blogs, or web logs, are sites that focus on a particular subject and sometimes function as a daily diary for their authors. Most bloggers add new content to their sites a few times a week, but some update their blogs more often than that, with new posts appearing several times a day. This blog is updated a couple of times a week.

Blogs are also somewhat interactive because readers can add their thoughts and opinions to any article they read. These comments usually identify the author, much like the letters to the editor you would find in your local newspaper. You can read these comments (or leave your own) by clicking the comment link that appears at the end of each post.

FAQWhat are the “categories” that appear at the end of each post and on the sidebar?

These categories are used by this blog to organize all of the articles you will find here by theme. A complete list of these categories is available under the TOPICS header in the column on your far right.

As these categories are also hyperlinks, clicking one will automatically take you to a new page that features other posts that fall into this category written by bloggers from around the world. This is useful if you are only interested in reading about a specific topic, and want to see what other people are saying.

If you want to stay within the boundaries of this blog and read only the posts we have filed under each of these categories, please click the category of your choice under the TOPICS header. Clicking there will take you to a new page that contains all of our category-specific posts.

If you are looking for something more specific, and are not quite sure how it might be categorized, you can search this entire blog by typing a keyword into the search box located in the sidebar/column on your right.

What are the other blogs you have listed in your Blogroll?

While some of the other blogs listed in the sidebar cover a few of the subjects you’ll find here, most of them simply make for interesting reading and cover a variety of topics. These are the blogs we like to visit each and every day.

Please note that these other blogs have their own unique sensibilities. Some people might be offended by the language used on some of these blogs, or might readily disagree with the opinions found there.

What are RSS feeds?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is used by people who visit several blogs a day to “subscribe” to their favorite sites.

Using a feed reader (such as NewzCrawler), any new posts that appear on a participating blog or a news organization’s website is fed to subscribers during the course of the day, without them having to visit each and every site they like.

These feed readers can be found online as standalone programs, but have lately been integrated into certain web browsers such as Firefox.

It costs nothing to subscribe to a feed, and all you have to do is add the appropriate feed to your reader to subscribe.

If you want more information about this topic, please feel free to contact us.

Otherwise, you are more than welcome to visit this blog every day without subscribing, as RSS feeds are entirely optional.
